Does it seem like you can only afford junk food when shopping on a tight budget? Well today I am going to debunk that myth. You can in fact eat healthy when shopping on a budget. Just take a look below at some tips on how to eat healthy for less. You can fill your cart with fresh fruits, veggies, and lean meats for less money than you might think and get healthier in the process. Take a peek so you can get started!

How to Eat Healthy for Less:

1. Buy in season produce.
This means buy produce when it is at its prime season. It will be cheaper and you can score the produce item for typically $1 or so per pound. Buy it in bulk and freeze or dry what you can’t use right away.

2. Just ask for savings.
Message your favorite health food companies and ask for coupons or samples that may be available. While you are at it, get on their mailing lists and follow their social media pages for additional savings.

3. Try off brand.
There are many wonderful off brand health food companies. Try some of the healthier off brand soup, cereal, and frozen meal options. You might just be surprised.

4. Don’t forget the dollar store.
Check your dollar store for healthier snack options. Pretzels, dried fruits, and frozen veggies are all great options.

5. Look for meat peelies.
When buying meat, look for coupons directly on the package or go to the reduced for quick sale freezer. Look for boneless and skinless chicken options as well as turkey options. Can’t find a peelie or blinkie coupon? Ask the butcher when these items go on sale so you can be the first to snag them.

6. Don’t forget those Sunday coupons!
Check your Sunday fliers for coupon savings on various health foods. Look for baked snacks, nuts, and cereal coupons so you can keep your diet on track.

7. Don’t forget…water is free!
Great for any diet, water is FREE! Be sure to drink your eight glasses of water a day and see how much better you feel.

You don’t have to go broke in order to eat healthy. Give these 7 tips a try and see what a difference they can make for you.
