Have you ever felt like the walls were closing in on you? Like if you didn’t get away and find some quiet, you just may go insane? Finding alone time can be a challenge, especially if you have little children or co-workers around. But the good news is, it can be found. Take a peek below at how to find alone time so you can refresh, refocus, and renew yourself. Ultimately, this will make you a stronger, better person ready to face what is coming at you.

How to find alone time:

1. Take a look at your daily routine.
Chances are you spend at least 10 minutes a day doing a task that can either wait or be avoided altogether. A great example would be surfing Facebook, picking up toys for the millionth time that day, etc. Find these little spots in your life that you can replace with alone time.

2. Find a spot and be still.
Look for a quiet place that you won’t be disturbed. If you are at work, your car may be ideal. If you are home with children, a bathroom or bedroom that you can comfortably sit alone is perfect. Shut out all distractions. Use your alone time to truly be alone and be still. You can pray, meditate, or even take a ten minute power nap. The idea is to not do anything but relax, unwind, and refresh yourself through silence and self reflection.

3. Set a timer.
Set a timer for 10-15 and don’t break from your alone time until it goes off. You will find that truly being still for this time may be a challenge, but keep trying and remind yourself to relax. If home with children, find a task for them to do alone safely so you can enjoy this 15 minutes.

4. Ease back into your routine.
When your alone time is up, ease back into your routine. Notice what a difference you feel already!

5. Make a date to do it again.
Make sure you carve that 15 minutes out the following day so you can repeat the process. Getting into the habit is a great thing!
