It’s time for a little Monday inspiration, so today we are talking about tips for getting a good night’s sleep. What does that have to do with getting inspired? Well quite a bit actually! How can you be inspired if you are lacking energy and mental alertness? Exactly! See what I mean? Now let’s get busy talking about tips for getting a good night’s sleep. When you establish a healthy sleeping pattern, you will find that you can focus, be more positive, alert, and dare I say, more pleasant to be around. Take a look below at some tips to get you started!

Tips for Getting a Good Night’s Sleep

1. Find some unwind time.
Don’t just jump in bed and expect to fall asleep. Instead, plan for at least 30 minutes of decompression time. This can be a time where you read, meditate, or take a quick walk. Let your body know it is time to settle down and prepare to sleep.

2. Take a warm shower or bath.
Just like a bath can help relax a baby, enjoy one before you call it a night. A warm bath or shower can help relax sore muscles and make you nice and sleepy. Plus you will also feel nice and clean before jumping in bed.

3. Try some soft noise.
A fan or soft radio is perfect for providing some background noise. What you should not use is a television, as the lights can actually help keep you awake and from a deep sleep.

4. Try some sleep inducing foods.
Carb heavy foods or a little milk and a banana can help you doze off faster. Enjoy a little snack before you head to bed and see if it makes a difference.

5. Don’t take your work to bed.
Don’t do work tasks in bed, as your body will start to associate the stress you feel with them with the space. Instead, do work in another room and keep the two zones separate.

6. Make it cozy.
Splurge a little on cozy fabrics, soft pillows, a mattress topper, or other elements that may make you more comfortable. A body pillow may even help you find a more comfortable sleeping position.

7. Don’t oversleep.
Wake up at a scheduled time each day so you don’t oversleep. Doing so only makes you feel groggy.

Give these tips a try and you can enjoy a better night’s sleep. As a result, you will be alert, happier, and have more energy to really make the day amazing!
