keep calm Im losing weight

WOOHOO!  I am 10.6 lbs down in 21 days!

If you have been following my posts for the last three weeks, you know that I have been doing the Personal Trainer Food program.  I have been blogging on my journey including my struggles here.

Today makes 21 days that I have been eating healthy.  I have eliminated all processed foods and useless carbs from my diet including flour, sugar, bread, pasta and rice.   Personal Trainer Food sent me box of delicious chicken, veggies and snacks  that is REAL FOOD (not tv dinners or boxed stuff) which had ALL of my meals and snacks for a full 28 days included.  After researching programs to see what program was out there that was based on “clean eating” with REAL FOOD I came across Personal Trainer Food.  I originally bought into the program before speaking with a representative from the company.  After discussing it further, they agreed to send me the full program for 28 days in exchange for my honest opinion.  I agreed to stick to it without cheating for 28 days to give it a fair shot and see what my results would be.   I am 100% positive that I have been successful so far because everything was at my fingertips and super easy to follow.  If I got hungry I could just grab one of the allowed foods and eat it without having to think about making the right choices.   The only thing that I have added to the foods that they sent me was one apple each night as an additional snack as well as some macadamia nuts.  These items are allowed within the program guidelines and sounded good so I took advantage of the extra options.

I can honestly say that I feel 100% better since I started eating healthy

I anticipated that it would be really difficult to eliminate most carbs from my diet.  I knew that my diet was pretty much based on some sort of carb at every meal.  Since I am not a big sweets person I figured that it would be difficult to adjust to not eating starchy carbs.   I’m not going to say that there weren’t times that I just wanted a sandwich or a bowl of fried rice or even a waffle (see my post here on that), but overall, it wasn’t difficult to adjust to at all!   As long as I had the allowable foods on hand (meat, cheese, eggs, salads, nuts, apples) I felt satisfied.  Since some of the foods are allowed in unlimited quantities, there was always something that I could grab that would make me feel full or satisfy the urge to want to munch on something.

I am SHOCKED that I am exercising regularly

I’m not going to lie… exercising is not on my list of top ten items that I like to do.  Honestly, the only exercise program that I have ever really enjoyed was Jazzercise and they stopped offering it in my area a few years back.  I am pretty active though with fishing, camping and playing outside with our dogs so I guess that has helped me through the years a bit.    With the Personal Trainer Food program they ask you to commit to walking for 10 minutes per day.  From the beginning that seemed more than doable and it didn’t give me that internal feeling of wanting to quit.  I mean really, 10 minutes isn’t much in the scope of things (until you start doing it and haven’t exercised in a while, haha).   My method for pushing through is to put Taylor Swifts “Shake it off” on repeat on my phone with some headphones and listen to it three times.  That totals ten minutes and before you know it I am done!   I didn’t want to make this big production of having to get ready and go up to the local park to do my walking, so I simply walked around my yard in a big giant square while listening to my music.    Since my dog Rosco just recently got done with obedience training I also incorporated this into my walking and practice his “heel” command.  He seems to enjoy the attention and it keeps my mind occupied between him and the music.

I sleep better than ever before!

One of the biggest surprises with eating properly has been that I am sleeping SOOOOOOO much better.   Those of you that know me or have followed the deals on my website can confirm that I am up ALL HOURS OF THE NIGHT usually.  It isn’t unusual to see me comment on a question or post a deal at 3:30am regularly.   Since eliminating most carbs from my diet I do not have the energy highs and lows during the day and at night when I hit the bed I fall asleep almost immediately and feel very rested when I wake up in the morning.  WHO KNEW?!

Heading into my FINAL WEEK of the 28 day program, here’s my plan:

I have really being doing good about sticking to the plan and as of today I have lost 10.6 lbs.  To me that is AMAZING!  Every pound that I lose encourages me to keep going and lose even more.  My goal was to lose 10 lbs per month for 5 months (50 lbs total) and that is what I plan to do.  It is not unusual to lose a little more weight when you initially start a diet because of water weight and excess junk in your system.  I feel like 2 1/2 lbs per week is possible with this program and I really want to work towards that goal.

As I mentioned earlier, I already bought into the plan before speaking directly with the company, so I have extra food on hand that will likely carry me another 2-3 weeks.  My husband has been eating some meals with me (and enjoying them I might add), so I won’t have a full 28 days left, but I have enough to let me continue for a bit.   After that, I do plan to continue the program (at my own expense) until I have hit my weight loss goal.  That says A LOT, trust me.  I don’t think that I have ever had the desire to continue with any “diet” or eating plan that I have started in the past.  By this point I am usually bored to death of the food or I just don’t see myself doing it long term.   With Personal Trainer Food, it is just regular natural food that is already seasoned and prepared to make it easy to follow proper eating habits.  I like that about the program and feel like I can be successful if I stick it out.  I may modify a few things here and there in the long run, but I have been extremely satisfied with my results and hoping to hit my weight loss goal before summer vacation!

I also plan to bump up my exercising to 20 minutes per day starting this week.  I have been doing an extra round with my walking this past week and feel like I can commit to doing a little more.   I have also noticed that I am much more flexible than before I started walking and have more energy when walking into a store or getting up to do something.   It is the little things that you notice when losing weight.  My clothes are getting super loose too which is really encouraging!  Someone mentioned that I might benefit from a rebounder also, which is one of those mini trampolines with a stability bar that you bounce on and do exercises.  I have had knee surgery and this is supposed to be less impact on your knees.  If anyone has any experience with using one of these I would love to hear about it!  I am probably going to order one this week so let me know!

Ready, Set, GO!  It’s the last week!

I have ONE MORE WEEK of the 28 day program.  Although I am very satisfied with my results already, it will be interesting to see how much I end up losing after following the full 28 days.  My original goal was to lose 10 lbs so anything after that is considered an extra bonus in my book!  I will keep you all posted on how I am doing!

To kick off my last week, I decided to go with one of my very favorite meal options which is Stir Fry!  YUUUMMMY!  Doesn’t this look good??

Dieting paid for

Well, I thought I would update you all on my progress with Personal Trainer Food and let you know how I am doing!  I am happy to say that I am down 8.5 lbs in 13 day!  I swear I didn’t lift myself up with helium balloons like in the picture above either, haha!

If you haven’t been following my journey, I did a post HERE and HERE about it to bring you up to speed.   Basically I received a box of delicious chicken, veggies and snacks from Personal Trainer Food (no TV dinners, real meat and veggies) that covers all of my meals for a full 28 days.  I have eliminated all processed carbs from my diet, no sugar, no flour, no potatoes and no dairy except for cheese.  It was surprisingly easy to adjust to and I have had no problems staying on track which is amazing for me!

On this program they want you to focus more on routine and eating properly than actual “dieting”.  By eating the right foods and doing some simple exercising (10 minutes of walking per day) your body goes into fat burning mode and the weight starts coming off naturally.   I honestly haven’t done much else besides what is recommended and I am pleasantly surprised that I am not hungry and the weight really IS coming off!

The cool thing about removing processed carbs and sugars from your diet is that you no longer have the energy ups and downs during the day as your sugar levels crash.  I wake up feeling good and haven’t had the mid day slump since I started eating right.  It took about 3-4 days for my body to adjust to eating properly and during those days I felt a little sluggish here and there but nothing to really speak of.

The food is DELICIOUS!  You get to pick out the items that you want them to send you which includes Pre-cooked, Frozen, Gourmet Quality yet Affordable, No-Low Gluten options.  For the most part I selected chicken, beef, veggies, sausage, eggs, cheese, nuts, etc.  It is all good.  I haven’t found anything that I don’t like yet and there is a lot to select from.  My FAVORITE are the gluten free Buffalo Chicken Sticks, it makes me feel like I’m cheating even though I’m not!  It is included with the food that they sent me and OH SO GOOD when I just want something that seems off limits.  The regular chicken breast and veggies are all very tasty too and I haven’t felt deprived of anything at this point.  You can eat an unlimited amount of meat & eggs and some veggies so there are plenty of options to keep you full while your body adjusts to no carbs.

So how much does this cost?

Everyone asks me this question before anything else, so I wanted to give you an idea of how much this would cost to do on your own.   Keep in mind that Personal Trainer Food sent me a 28 day supply of ALL MEALS and snacks to try out, this is called their ALL INCLUSIVE program.  I was planning to buy in on the deal anyways because it was the ONLY plan that I could find that sent actual REAL pre-cooked, frozen, gourmet quality food that is not boxed or tv dinners.  I have tried those programs and they get old really fast.   So with that said, my package which includes a Breakfast (such as an omelet and sausage) a Lunch (such as a seasoned chicken breast and veggies) and a Dinner (such as a meat ~beef or chicken~ and veggies) as well as two snacks per day (Sausage & Cheese sticks, Almonds, Pistachios, etc) would be $369 total for the whole month after the $75 promotion on their website (code MyYear2015).  That works out to be $13.18 per day or roughly $4.39 per meal not factoring in the 56 snacks you get with it.  For me that is a GREAT DEAL because it is really good healthy food and I don’t have to think about what I am going to eat or spend time preparing the foods I need to lose weight.  I am SURE that is why I have been as successful as I have been so far.  The ease of grabbing something, heating it up and eating it and feeling satisfied but keeping on track is my idea of an easy diet.  I get off track when I have to plan it out for a month.

There are cheaper programs too which you could easily do as well if you didn’t want to put out that much initially.  Since the breakfast meals consist of omelets or eggs with cheese and a meat like sausage or bacon you could do those yourself and buy in on the 2 meal program instead.   For me, I will probably stick with the “All Inclusive” package because it takes the guess work out of it and makes it WAY too easy.

I am about to enter into my THIRD week on the program.  Personal Trainer Foods sent me a video on what to expect in the third week (you can check it out here if interested).  It is suppose to be the HARDEST of all weeks so I am really going to stay focused and stay with the program.   I promised myself that I would give this a full 28 days without wavering at all from the program and see how I do.  I personally need to lose about 50 lbs so I will be THRILLED if this is the program that works for me long term.  So far I feel fantastic and the food is no problem to keep up with!

  • Last week I shared more information on what I am eating, you can check that out here
  • If you are thinking of ordering, click on this link here but DO NOT use the promo code (for $50 off) it gives you when you click on my link, go directly to the order page and use code MyYear2015 to get $75 off.

I know that many of you are doing your own weight loss programs too.  I would love to hear how yours is going!  Please comment and share!!

Big Butt Girl

Okay, it’s time to face reality, my butt has got WAY too big, I need to take action!

I know I’m not the only one, so I thought that I would share my journey with all of you and maybe we could work together to encourage each other!   I knew that I had gained a few pounds the last few years and I have said several times that I was going to lose weight and start a diet but nothing ever really seemed to work out.   This past summer when I went on vacation I was EXTREMELY uncomfortable with how I felt in shorts and my bathing suit even with a cover up and I MUST do something about this before summer hits again!

As many of us do, I started looking at diet and exercise options before the end of the year, planning to start the new year off right.    Through the years I have pretty much tried every type of diet out there, some have worked well and others not so much.   I rarely eat TV dinners and many of the “commercial” diets involve meal replacement bars, frozen dinners or some kind of shake.    I personally am extremely sensitive to artificial sweeteners and I have found that most of these programs require some type of food or drink that has artificial sweeteners as an ingredient.   I just can’t do that.  It makes me feel gross, and just the thought of putting all of these unnecessary chemicals or unnatural things in my system doesn’t seem like it would be the best option long term.

This past year I have heard so much about “Clean Eating”, “Gluten Free Eating”, “The Paleo Diet” or other programs that promote eating natural foods and eliminating over processed junk that is so popular in our diets.   This really caught my interest, but it was kind of hard for me to wrap my head around exactly how I could transition to this type of eating and where to start.

For me, the biggest issue is that I don’t usually eat breakfast, I can go all day working hard and finally at about 2pm or 3pm I get hungry and eat something then eat again after I am done working at night.   I am pretty sure that my biggest problem through the years has been eating too late and making REALLY bad choices on what I choose to eat.  Can anyone else relate to that??  Since I am starving at that point, I usually choose something that is really quick and easy to prepare which involves lots of pasta, bread, rice or other carbs.   I am not a sweets eater by nature, but I LOVE my breads and rice.  Logically I know this isn’t the best thing to do, but that pretty much sums up the reality of my eating habits.

Sooo.. while searching for options that were close to “clean eating” or at least “healthy eating” I found a TON of programs, some super strict, some not so bad but the basic idea with all of them was that you have to plan your meals, have those items on hand and set a schedule for eating.   In theory that sounds great, but with someone with a busy schedule like mine, the odds of success are pretty slim with a program that requires me to prepare and cook three healthy meals per day plus healthy snacks.  I know myself and I know that I will do good for a few days and then I will be super swamped and will grab something fast on the run and blow my program out of the water.   Call me a loser (and not the weight loss type) if you must.. but I have to be REAL with myself at this point.

My husband (who by the way eats snacks and junk all day and doesn’t have an ounce of fat on him) said that I could probably lose weight quickly like some of these stars you see on TV if I had a chef come and cook me the meals that I am supposed to have three times per day and show me what it is I should be eating for weight loss.   He said that way I would always have what I am supposed to eat right in front of me and won’t have to give it any thought.  Great idea, thank you Captain Obvious for your support!   I am pretty sure that hiring a personal chef is NOT even remotely an option considering my tight budget.

Even though the suggestion by Captain Obvious wasn’t realistic, it did make me start thinking!

With all of these different programs out there, I starting looking to see if any of them offered a program with REAL FOOD already prepared sent right to your house at a reasonable price.  I didn’t want any type of TV dinner meal or meal replacement or energy shakes included, nothing processed.  Just real food ready to go to keep me on track AND teach me how I should be eating.  I like the idea of clean eating and would LOVE to learn how to do it so that I can not only lose weight but become healthier in the process!

I stumbled upon a company called Personal Trainer Food because they were offering a Groupon on one of their programs.  Basically their program is based on removing all processed junk from your diet.   They send you REAL meats and veggies and snacks (not processed tv dinners) ready to heat up and eat.  The food and options on their website looked REALLY REALLY good too!  They teach you how to eat right and make it super simple.   I saw this on the last day of their groupon offer and I bought in on it thinking that it would be a good thing to try.    While I was researching the entire thing out I made contact with one of their “diet coaches” who offered for me to try out the program for 28 days (free of charge, YIPPEY!) and share my HONEST experiences with everyone on my website.  They said if I stuck to it I could lose weight and I would feel 100% better and they were confident that I could succeed if i stuck to it.  Of course this was a no-brainer for me and I jumped right on board!  I am REALLY GLAD that I did too!  I am on DAY FIVE and I am SUPER EXCITED ABOUT IT!    I will say, their food is really good.  You could TOTALLY do the same thing at home and make the exact same meals really easily, but what I like about it is that I don’t have to think about it, I pull out my food, heat it up (microwave, oven or saute it depending on what I feel like doing) and eat it.    The biggest thing for me is that I feel that I am LEARNING how to eat right which is the one thing that I really need to learn.

I realize that it isn’t feasible for everyone to be able to pay for a diet program like this.  One of the best things about this program is that you CAN do the same thing at home if you wanted to.  Nothing in their program is a “unique food” or something that you couldn’t make yourself.   Basically it is something like a seasoned chicken breast and veggies, the whole idea behind the Personal Trainer Food Program is the convenience of it all, that you don’t have to think about it, the food is already prepared, you heat and eat.  That works for me.   The other thing is that they are not focusing on DIET as much as proper eating habits and routine, eating when you are supposed to, doing some form of exercise EVERY DAY (they recommend 10 minutes of walking) and stay with it.   With this program you do not eat ANY processed carbs, no pasta, no rice, no bread, no sugar, but you CAN have Meat, Veggies, Eggs, Cheese and some nuts like almonds and pistachios.  There is a science behind eliminating processed carbs but I won’t get into that right now.  For me, it is PRETTY DARN CLOSE to clean eating and I am very happy so far!   I will go into more details on future posts about how things are working for me, but here are a couple of photos to give you an idea on what I am eating.

This is what my food looks like:

personal trainer food 1

This was my DAY ONE lunch.  It was heated in the microwave and ready in 3 1/2 minutes and VERY GOOD.

personal trainer food stir fry

I decided to switch it up a bit for dinner and instead of microwaving my stir fry veggies and meat I put it in a pan in the kitchen to brown it up a bit and season with a little bit of soy sauce and it was AMAZING!

So far in 5 days I have lost 2.3 lbs and I have eaten more than I normally would!

Yes, I admit,  2.3 pounds is not THAT much, but it has only been five days (four on food since the first day I fasted before starting) and I feel FANTASTIC!  I feel like I am eating WAY more than I normally would, the food is good and since I am not eating any carbs at all I am not having the sugar highs and lows through the day.  It has been an easy transition for me thank goodness!!

In my upcoming posts I will share my actual meal plan with Personal Trainer Food, what I am eating each day and how things are working.    I would LOVE for you to do that same!  What plan are you on?   How is it working?  What meals are you preparing?  Let’s get healthy together!!

Make sure you check in on our facebook fan page or our facebook chat page to say hi and hang out with all of your coupon freak friends! We are having a blast over there!
