 CHECK THIS OUT!!

After all of the RUMORS that have been flying around about the Publix Rain Check Policy, we FINALLY have clarification and there is nothing to worry about!

The MAIN THING that I see is that the rain check will be redeemed for the RETAIL PRICE of the item WHEN THE RAIN CHECK IS ISSUED.  So basically, if you get a rain check for a BOGO item that is priced at BOGO $3.99 but the item goes on sale for $2.00 later, you can not benefit from both deals.  Your rain check will be redeemed at BOGO $3.99.

This is what the NEW Rain Check looks like with exact wording:

  • We will issue only one rain check per day per household for any one item or deal on promotion.
  • A rain check may be redeemed at any Publix location offering that product.
  • A rain check must be redeemed within 30 days of the issue date.
  • Rain checks will be redeemed only for the retail price of the item in effect when the rain check was issued.
  • We will issue rain checks for up to 8 single items, or for up to 4 deals, not to exceed 20 items.
  • A rain check must be redeemed for the exact product it was issued for as described on the rain check.
  • Rain checks are intended only for single use. If the full rain check is not redeemed, the remaining items are forfeited.
  • We will not issue rain checks for Publix, competitor, or manufacturer coupons.
  • Rain checks are nontransferable.
  • A rain check may not be redeemed if it is illegible, or is lost, stolen, or destroyed.
IMPORTANT FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A customer presents a rain check and a coupon for an item. The coupon is expired, but was valid on the date the rain check was issued. Can the coupon still be accepted?
ANSWER: YES

If we can’t get product from warehouse/manufacturer within 30 days, can we re-issue or extend the date on the rain checks?
ANSWER: Yes, you’ll issue the customer a new rain check.

So there you go!!  No need to panic, Publix still loves couponers and we have nothing to worry about as far as rain checks go!!  Woohoo!  Coupon on!

Thank you Starr for our help on this one!

policy changes

For weeks we have heard rumors of changes to the Publix Coupon Policy.  Some areas have already started putting restrictions on the number of deals that can be done on the hot sale items.    In my opinion these changes are not a HUGE deal and will give more people the opportunity to score deals.   I spoke directly with the District Manager in my area and he said that they are having a meeting next week to discuss the changes, but the Miami area has already released these new guidelines.   Keep in mind that these are subject to change, but it appears that these will be the changes to the coupon policy and will be across the board in all stores effective October 1st.

*Note: There will be a grace period between October 1st and October 18th for people to adjust to these changes*

Publix Coupon Policy Changes
(subject to change)

So that all of our customers can benefit from these deals, we reserve the right to limit purchase quantities.

The types of coupons we accept:

  • Manufacturer’s coupons, Publix coupons, Internet coupons, and coupons from nearby competitors (a list of which are posted at each Publix store).
  • Coupons from competing pharmacies for prescriptions only.

Our Acceptance Guidelines:

  • Acceptance is subject to any restrictions on the coupon.
  • We only accept coupons for identical items we sell.
  • We only accept a manufacturer’s coupon and either a Publix or a competitor’s coupon on the same item. Maximum of two coupons per item.
  • Manufacturer’s digital offers cannot be combined with manufacturer’s paper coupons on the purchase of the same item.
  • We do not accept percent-off-items or percent-off-total-order coupons.
  • We do not accept coupons that Publix determine to be printed incorrectly. For example, a coupon missing a size requirement or other standard coupon details.
  • We do not accept coupons presented via a mobile phone or device.
  • We do not accept coupons that appear to be copied.  All coupons must be originals.
  • For a buy-one-get-one-free (BOGO) offer, each item is considered a separate purchase.
  • We limit coupon redemption to eight of the same coupons per day, per household.
  • Manager’s approval is needed for individual coupons above $5.00.
  • Dollars-off-total-order coupons will be limited to one Publix and one competitor’s coupon per day, per household. The total order before coupons must be equal to or greater than the combined purchase requirements indicated on the coupon(s) presented. We consider competitor’s coupons for dollars off groups of items to be a dollars-off-total-order coupon and will only allow one per day, per household.
  • Money due back to the customer at the end of a transaction involving coupons will only be provided on a Publix gift card.

Our management teams will only issue rain checks for items which are advertised outside the store at a reduced retail. For example, on radio or TV, or in our weekly ad, co-op ad, mailer, or internet site.

  • We will only issue one rain check, per day, per household for an item.
  • We will not issue rain checks for Publix, competitor’s, or manufacturer’s coupons.

There have been some questions recently regarding the proper use of coupons at Publix on the MyCouponExpert Chat Page, so I contacted Publix Corporate for clarification and would like to share this information with you here.

QUESTION:

If an item is on BOGO (Buy One Get One Free), can I use a B1G1 Free MFG coupon with the sale?  What if I have a $1.00/2 PUBLIX STORE coupon that matches the sale, can I use that too?

ANSWER:

YES!  If you have a BOGO sale and you have a B1G1 Free MFG coupon, you can use that coupon to get BOTH ITEMS FREE (in Florida)!  When the items are scanned, one will ring up at full price, the second will ring up free (in Fla), when the cashier scans your B1G1 MFG coupon, it will take off the FULL PRICE of the first item making BOTH items FREE!  YIPPEY!

Although you can not use any other MFG coupon with this deal since the B1G1 free coupon attaches to both items, if you happened to have a PUBLIX STORE COUPON (or competitor) to pair with this, such as a $1.00/2 coupon, you could use that too and not only get both items free, but have an additional $1.00 in “overage” to go towards the rest of your purchases!

********************************************************************

QUESTION:

If I have a B2G1 Free MFG Coupon, can I use additional mfg coupons on the first TWO items since I am “paying for those” and getting the third item free?

ANSWER:

NO, due to the agreement that Publix has with each individual manufacturer, the B2G1 free coupon will attach to ALL THREE items since you have to purchase the first two items to get the third item free.  You can not use any additional MFG coupons with the B2G1 free coupon.  HOWEVER, if you had a Publix STORE coupon or competitor coupon, you CAN pair a store coupon with the mfg coupon.

EXAMPLE:

Totino’s Pizza is on sale 10/$10.00, I have a MFG’s coupon for B2G1 Free Totino’s Pizza and I also have a PUBLIX STORE coupon for $1.00/3 Totino’s Pizzas.  I would buy THREE Totino’s Pizza’s ($3.00), I would use ONE B2G1 Free MFG coupon (deducts $1.00) and ONE $1.00/3 PUBLIX coupon (deducts $1.00) and end up paying $1.00 for THREE Pizza’s!

 *******************************************************************

QUESTION:

I have a coupon to get a FREE bag of M&M’s when I buy TWO Kellogg’s Cereal, can I also use MFG coupons on the two boxes of cereal?

ANSWER:

NO, due to the agreement that Publix has with the manufacturers, the coupon for the free M&M’s will attach to ALL THREE ITEMS since you are required to purchase the two cereals in order to get the free M&M’s.

This is where it gets confusing to most people because in the past you were permitted to use a coupon on all three items and most stores will allow this.  I spoke directly to Publix Corporate about this and the person in charge of the department that writes their coupon policy explained that “due to the agreement that Publix has with the manufacturers, a coupon for a free item will attach to any other items listed on that coupon and no other mfg coupons can be used with this coupon”.
