Autumn just wouldn’t be the same without the whirling and twirling of fall leaves, would it? This season, bring some of the warmth of fall leaves indoors with this Autumn Leaf Luminary. It is so easy to make, yet looks so lovely displayed in your home on a chilly fall night. And as always, you don’t need a great deal of supplies or cash to whip this gem up. Take a look below at how to make your own Autumn Leaf Luminary that you can enjoy as the fall season sets in or give as a sweet jar gift. It is a lot easier than you may think.

Autumn Leaf Luminary Jar Gift

Supplies Needed
Canning jar
Bundle of silk leaves
Fabric scrap
Battery operated votive

As mentioned, all of the above items can be found at your local Dollar Tree store. Just look in the crafting, holiday, and dishware aisle.

Directions:

  1. Begin by creating the fabric cover for your lid. To do this, cut a circle out of scrap fabric that is slightly larger than the perimeter of your jar lid.
  2. In the jar, you want to stuff the bundle of fall leaves. For ours, I left the leaves right on the stems and just bent them to fit. I then adjusted them as need be with my hands until they showed through the glass how I wanted.
  3. Next, a battery operated votive was nestled inside. USE ONLY A BATTERY OPERATED VOTIVE I BEG OF YOU. Anything else is a fire hazard.
  4. Now, replace the lid and display until you wish to turn the luminary on.

This makes an inexpensive home decor piece or it can be used as a jar gift. Just remove the lid and flip on the battery operated votive for some instant glow. This is sure to be  a piece that will light your home up for the holidays.
