Are you holding onto to guilt? I think we all do at some point or another. Well the good news is, you can let that guilt go whenever you are ready.

We believe that terrible terrible things have happened in our worlds as a pure result of something horrid we have done. We hold that feeling and the shame it brings, and the end result is sweet old guilt. It is a pretty nasty feeling, isn’t it? For some of us, we don’t just spend our lives living with guilt, we hold onto it with white knuckles.

We feel overwhelmed with it when we eat too much at dinner, or when we have to be the meanest mom ever to our children and tell them no. We are consumed by it when we have hurt someones feelings or not finish a job we have started. We become convinced that anything awful that comes along after that is a direct result of the bad things we may have done. The guilt creeps in, then it sinks in, and then it sticks, where it feels like a slow burn. Goodbyes not said, apologies not made, decisions made in haste, they all hold hands with guilt and bring it along for the ride. It is such an unbearable baggage.

So how do we let guilt go? Easy. Sell all of your belongings to get the cash to build a time machine, and then go back and undo all of the wrongs you have done.

 Kidding. Kinda.

Guilt is a self created reminder of all the things we wish we had done differently. That’s it. Did you hear those two important words? Self created. It is a feeling and a behavior that we alone are responsible for inflicting on ourselves. The point is, we did NOT do those things differently. We did them the way we chose to at the time. Maybe at the time it felt right. Maybe at the time we knew it was wrong. It does not matter. We made a choice. Now here we are, learning to let any guilt we might be feeling go.

The upside? We can do this ourselves, this letting go of guilt, and don’t need anyone to tell us that our sentence has been served.

Let go of the guilt you are carrying around today. Would ya? Then if you are feeling ever so brave, share with us on the Facebook page or Community Chat Page exactly how you did it, or how it made you feel.

Be inspired today, friends.
