Old Sweater Upcycle: DIY No Sew Kid’s Leg Warmers

It seems as though everyone has an old sweater or two laying around their house, right? Old sweaters are great for all sorts of easy craft projects, including these cute and cozy no sew children’s leg warmers. If your little ones want a way to keep their legs cozy for less, all you need to do is grab an old sweater and a pair of scissors. In no time, you can make a simple pair of leg warmers that they will adore wearing. Take a peek!

No Sew Kid’s Leg Warmers

Supplies needed:
Old sweater
Scissors
Hem tape and iron (optional)

You can make a quick run to your thrift store and find a soft sweater with a color or pattern of your choice. An adult size small seems to work best for this project.

Directions:

  1. To create your no sew leg warmers, all you need to do is cut the sleeves off an old sweater right above the elbow.
  2. You can then clean up the cut end by folding it over and applying some hem tape in the fold. Press it with a hot iron until the hem tape melts, adhering the fold in place.
  3. Using hem tape is optional. If you wish, you can just fold your cut end over neatly at the thigh.sweater2

 The model in our photo loves her soft and cozy green leg warmers. They can be worn under dresses, over tights, over leggings, and even over skinny leg jeans to keep her legs warm and toasty. We just folded them up at her thigh to make them fit. Hers are long enough where she can pull them down over her feet as well or bunch the excess fabric up around her ankles.
