 With the holidays approaching, you are going to want to keep a stash of gifts on hand! You never know when a guest may drop by that you want to present a token of your love and friendship to. Gifts in a jar are a great way to have easy to give gifts on hand, plus the recipient will be thrilled to receieve a gift that is so yummy and convenient. Gifts in a jar are easy to make, and the end result is a tasty meal all in one convenient jar. Today, you are going to learn how to make your own simple gift, a Brown Sugar Meatloaf in Jar. This dry mix not only looks beautiful layered in a jar, but add it to fresh meat and presto! Dinner is served. Take a look at how to make your own!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf in a Jar

Supplies Needed:

1/2 cup of mini crackers
1 cup of seasoned bread crumbs
3 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. dried crushed thyme
2 tsp.dry crushed basil
1 tsp. black pepper
1 ½  tsp. garlic powder
½ cup of brown sugar

Directions:

  1. Creating your jar is quite simple. Begin by placing a layer of crackers at the bottom of the jar.
    2. Next, pour on 1/2 of the seasoned or unseasoned bread crumbs.
    3. Pour in the brown sugar, packing it in firmly with a spoon.
    4. Add the other dry ingredients, the crushed herbs and spices in layers, or you can mix them all together and just pour them in. Finish off the jar by topping it with the remaining bread crumbs.
    5. That’s it! Now just pack it all in and place the lid on tightly to keep it fresh.

Now, you will also want to include a recipe card for how to use the mix when preparing the meatloaf. On a simple recipe card, include the following directions:

Mix 2 pounds of ground beef or turkey with the jar ingredients.
Add in two eggs as well as 1 cup of ketchup.
Mix all of the ingredients well and shape into a loaf pan.
Brush additional ketchup on top of the loaf and bake at 375 degrees for 45-50 minutes.
Cool, and enjoy!
