TEN USES FOR GARDEN PEPPERS!!

1. Keep away colds.
Peppers are so rich in vitamins and antioxidants including vitamin c. These items help boost your immune system keeping you healthy during the summer and fall months.

2. Keep cancer at bay.
Studies have shown that the “capsaicin” in peppers inhibits cancer cell growth. Whether you eat them cooked or fresh, by absorbing the capsaicin into your body you could be very well protecting yourself from potential disease.

3. Fight the fat.
Did you know that peppers can play a huge part in helping you lose weight? Eating hotter peppers will increase the body’s metabolism. So eat up and lose those stubborn pounds.

4. Freeze for later.
If your peppers are starting to go bad, simply slice or chop and store them in an airtight container. You can then freeze them for later. When you make a soup or stew, just take out and drop in. It is so easy, and you won’t be wasting any this way.

5. Dehydrate!
If you have a food dehydrator or know someone who does, you can dry your peppers in strips or minced form and use them for a pop of flavor in your recipes later. And don’t worry they still retain a lot of nutrients this way.

6. Make a mask.
Green peppers are high in silicon which we need for healthy hair, skin, and nails. You can puree a green pepper and add it to your clay face masks if you wish for an extra nutritional boost. How cool is that?

7. Scour for seeds.
Even if you come across a mushy pepper, you can still take the seeds out and save them for planning next year. Just store them in a cool and dry place until you are ready to plant.

8. Garnish and decorate.
Because peppers come in so many colors, they make wonderful garnishes on a variety of appetizer platters. Or, simply arrange a grouping in a large glass bowl or basket as a centerpiece. It is colorful, charming, and unexpected!

9. Skewer and grill.
Because green peppers can be grown on a dime, they make a great “filler” when you don’t have a lot of meat to use. Simply place chunks on a skewer, season with grill seasoning, and grill for a few minutes until toasty brown. They will be full of flavor and you won’t miss the lack of meat all that much.

10. Hollow out!
Hollow out the inside of a green pepper and use it to hold all sorts of things! You can bake hamburger directly in it, fill it with cold and refreshing chicken salad, pasta salad, or even put flowers in it and use it as décor. Just remove the stem and clean out the insides. Rinse well and you are ready to roll.
