Don’t you just love a fun and frugal craft project? The Halloween season is the perfect time to start getting crafty, as you will be ready to get rid of all of your summer decor and start bringing in the coziness of fall. If you are wanting some fresh new Halloween decor but don’t want to pay big bucks to get it, this dollar store DIY project is just for you! With a quick trip to your dollar store, you are just minutes away from creating this Hauntingly Beautiful Bat Plate. You don’t need to be a super crafty queen to whip this piece up, you just need to be able to have a little fun. Take a look at how to make your very own.

Darling Dollar Store DIY: Hauntingly Beautiful Bat Plate

Supplies Needed:

  • Small ceramic plate
  • Craft glue
  • Fine craft glitter
  • Black bats pre cut shapes

I was able to locate everything I used for this craft at Dollar Tree. The plate was in the housewares aisle, the glue and glitter were in the craft supply aisle, and the black bat pre cut shapes were in with the Halloween decor right at the front of the store. Of course items in your store may vary, but you should be able to find comparable supplies at yours.

Directions:

  1. To begin, pour some craft glue in a small dish. Dip your finger in the dish and spread the glue all over the back of your bat. You want the glue to be thin yet cover the entire piece of paper.
  2. Flip the bat over and position it on the plate the way you choose. You can angle it if you wish as though it is flying. Press it firmly so be sure it sticks well.
  3. Rub your hand over the bat so get rid of any air bubbles and remove any wrinkles.
  4. Now, place more glue on your finger but this time spread it out over the top of the bat. Spread it on thinly and evenly. It will look white at first but no worries as it will dry clear and act as a sealant.
  5. While your bat is drying, you want to make the moon on the plate. Do this by putting some glue in a thin layer up on the corner of the plate.
  6. Sprinkle some glitter over the glue and dust off any extra. It will create a sparkling fall moon that makes this piece pop!
