Dr. Seuss’s birthday is quickly approaching, so why not get into the Seuss spirit with these fun and frugal Thing 1 and Thing 2 puppets? Made from just a few dollar store materials, these puppets will give your kiddos lots of fun and giggles. They are so easy to make, and only take a few minutes. Give them a try! Take a look below to find the steps you will need to know to craft your own.
Thing 1 and Thing 2 Puppets
Supplies needed:
Red wood craft sticks
Googly eyes
Assorted craft pom poms (blue)
Scrap paper in white
Black marker
Scissors
Glue
As mentioned, everything we used in our sample picture was found at at our local dollar store. Give yours a try to see if they have these supplies and more that are sure to come in handy during your crafting adventures.
Directions:
1. Begin by gluing a blue pom pom to the top of each stick. This will serve as the hair of the things.
2. Directly below the hair, glue on a pair of googly eyes. Press until dry.
3. Take your scissors and cut out two circles from white scrap paper. These will go on the bellies of your things. Take your marker and write “Thing 1” and “Thing 2” on the circles. Glue them to the sticks.
Your Thing 1 and Thing 2 puppets are now complete. Use them to do a puppet show, or just enjoy a read aloud of this wonderful Seuss story.
