DIY Olympic Torch Craft
Supplies needed:
Cardboard roll
Assorted construction paper
Scissors
Glue
We were able to find everything we needed in our own scrap bin and recycling bin. Talk about frugal fun! Should you not have any of these materials, a quick trip to your dollar store should do the trick.
Directions:
1. Begin by covering your cardboard roll in either white or brown paper. Simply roll the roll up in the paper, cut it to fit, and attach the paper with glue.
2. Take some red, yellow, and orange construction paper. This is what will be your flame. Cut out various strips from these colors to create the flames. You don’t want them to uniform as you want them to look natural.
3. Keep cutting out strips until you can gather a large group of them in your hand like a bouquet. Twist the bottom of the bouquet so that the strips all stay tightly together.
4. Apply a generous amount of glue to the base of the bouquet of flames. Push the bouquet into the inside of the cardboard roll. Hold it in place until it is dry and secure.
Your Olympic Torch is now ready to be displayed! Allow children to carry their torch around in pride, and of course, be sure to check out the 2014 Winter Olympic Games this year as a family. They will enjoy seeing the real torch and the roll it plays in the Olympic Games.
Give this frugal and fun winter Olympics torch craft a try. It is sure to be one the kiddos will get into! And when they do, be sure to share with us on the Facebook page or Community Chat page. We love to see what you are up to, and so do your fellow coupon freaks!
