Since I started to coupon on this level, I have gotten to the point that I can plan meals from my own pantry without the need to go to the store for supplies. My problem is the “PLANNING” part. I am a last minute woman and if I don’t have something in mind, I often make really bad decisions on what I eat or before I know it, I am blogging away and realize that its 10pm and we haven’t had dinner yet. Does anyone else have that problem? Fear no more!
What you will need:
1.5 lbs. Ground Sirloin
ONE package Hot Italian Sausage ( I like Johnsonville)
1 egg
2 jars Ragu 16. Oz
ONE 2 lb tub Ricotta Cheese
TWO 8 oz packages Sargento Shredded Mozzarella
ONE tspn Italian Seasoning
ONE tspn Garlic Powder
ONE package lasagna noodles
½ cup parmesan cheese
Remove casing from sausage. Brown the ground sirloin and sausage together , breaking the meat into small pieces as it cooks. Drain fat and add both jars of sauce. Place on back burner on low.
Cook lasagna noodles following directions on box. Add a tspn of olive oil to water to help prevent noodles from sticking together. You want these to be al dente, so don’t over cook. Drain hot water and replace with cold water so that you can pull each one out easily.
In a large bowl, mix ricotta cheese, parmesan cheese, 8 oz shredded mozzarella cheese, egg, Italian seasoning and garlic powder.
To assemble
Spread a few tbsp of sauce on the bottom of a 13 x 9 dish. This prevent noodles from sticking to the bottom. Lay 3 lasagna noodles side by side in the dish. Spoon cheese mixture on top of noodles. Cover with sauce. Repeat this process until you are almost to the top of the dish. Sprinkle remaining package of shredded mozzarella on top.
Bake at 350 for 30- 45 min or until bubbly.
ENJOY!!
THANKS SO MUCH JEN!
Well, what do you all think? Is this something that you would like to see on Tuesdays? I would LOVE to get some feedback from all of you and would also love it if any of you would like to submit a recipe or two that you have using some of the items from recent BOGO deals! Jen has some really good recipes to share including some great ideas for those nights where you just don’t feel like cooking or those nights where the kids are out and you want something particularly yummy that they wouldn’t appreciate!
