Can you remember being a kid and waiting those long hours for the ball to drop? The hours leading up to the New Year can be long and tiresome for children, which is why they need an activity like this! These simple DIY hourly treat bags are sure to keep your kiddos in the spirit the whole night long. Made from just a few simple dollar store supplies, these hourly treat bags are just as fun as they are frugal. Take a peek below at how to make your own.

DIY Hourly Treat Bags

Supplies needed:
Brown paper lunch bags
Tape
Assorted ribbon
Glitter
Markers
Dollar store prizes such as play dough, playing cards, whistles, candy

As mentioned, we were able to find everything we needed for this project at our local dollar store. You don’t need to spend more than a few bucks to make this project happen.

Directions:
1. Begin by counting out how many hours you wish to celebrate. For our party, we are going to start around 6 p.m. So we would need one bag for each hour between the hours of 6 and midnight.
2. In each bag (we are using 7) add some treats and glitter. A deck of cards, some stickers, some candy, or other small treats work great. Toss the treats directly in the bag with a handful of glitter for fun.
3. Close the bag and secure it with tape. Add some outside embellishments such as ribbon.
4. On each bag, write the hour that it is to be opened. For example, 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. This way, kids know which bag to grab and when. You can also place larger treats in the bags leading up until midnight.

Now, just arrange the bags in a basket near a clock. At each hour, allow children to open and bag and see what is inside. They will love watching the clock and counting down the minutes until they can open the next bag!

So head to your local dollar store and give this simple DIY project a try. It is a great way to ring in the New Year with little ones! And don’t forget, when you are done crafting head over to the Facebook page or Community Chat page and share what you have created. We love to see how creative you all are!
