Start earning college funds in 2011 by doing what you already do! Alrighty folks, I must admit that I have seen the Upromise information on many of the sites that I visit and I knew that there was money to be made for college by using your Upromise account but I had no idea how it really works.
I have had requests from many of you asking for information about Upromise so I figured I better start learning about this program. It is actually really neat and I wish i knew about this before my daughter and son went to college, it sure would have saved me in the long run!
Here are the basics:
- Once you sign up for Upromise and you make purchases at participating stores or restaurants you receive anywhere from 1%-25% back from eligible purchases towards college funds.
- Upromise has partnered with more than 21,000 grocery stores nationwide,
offering thousands of eligible and thousands of items from many of your
favorite brands, to make saving for college as easy as picking up a bag
of groceries. This is a great way to earn, automatically, for something
you’re already doing. *You will need to register your grocery store card (such as Winn-Dixie or Sweetbay) when applicable. I don’t see Publix on the list but I do see most of the other stores
- As you begin to earn money back on your purchases, the money will be put into your Upromise account. You can decide if you want to invest those funds into a 529 college savings plan, use the funds to pay down student loans or receive a check for college expenses.
There is a bunch of information to check out on their site about the program, but once you sign up it really does look quite easy to start earning money! I checked out the list of stores and found most of those that we already shop at including online sites for Target, Walmart, Walgreens, CVS and pretty much any other store or restaurant that I could think of while looking into this.
Does anyone out there already participate in Upromise and want to share their experience? We would sure appreciate it if so. This seems like a great program to get involved in whether you have little bity children, school age or even if you personally plan to go back to college or have student loans that still need to be paid off.
