WOW! Freecycle.org and a FREE AIR HOCKEY TABLE!

I am ABSOLUTELY LOVING Freecycle.org today. This is so exciting. For those of you that have never heard of it, I think that their mission statement pretty much speaks for itself:

“Our mission is to build a worldwide gifting
movement that reduces waste, saves precious resources & eases the burden on
our landfills while enabling our members to benefit from the strength of a
larger community.”

So the idea of it is that if you have something that you want to get rid of and are not planning on having a big yardsale, you can post it on freecycle.org and an email will go out to those that have signed up in your area letting them know what you are giving away. If someone is interested, they respond back to you and you make arrangements for the item to be picked up. If you have something that you need, you can do the same thing and someone that might have that item and doesn’t want or need it would respond and so forth. You don’t post your address or phone number publicly, you only do that one on one with the person coming to get the stuff.

It is a great concept. I originally signed up a couple of years ago and after I had a yardsale (we had four that year), I would post that I had leftover yard sale items and that anyone interested must take all. Within about an hour, I would always have responses and I would contact the person closest to me to come pick the items up. I seriously had a full truck and trailer load of left over items that I did not want to have to haul back into the barn, and this guy and his wife came over and loaded it all up and were thrilled! They may have kept some, they may have sold some at another yard sale, who knows.. all I cared about after a long weekend of yard sales was that my junk was gone and my yard was cleaned up in a snap!!

So as many of you know, I have had my grand daughters for the past 8 days (yawn, I’m tired just thinking about it), and I was checking my email and saw that this family was giving away an air hockey table in good condition. I responded and said that we would be interested. Well…I went and picked it up the next day and this is what it looked like!!! How nice was that! The girls have been having a total blast with this thing! I know that they will get a lot of use out of it before I Free Cycle it back to someone else!!
