Have you ever thought about the amount of worth you give yourself? When you think about what you are worth, how high do you set your value? I once heard Oprah say that, “It is one thing to think you are owed something. It is another thing to think you are worthy of something.” Let’s explore that a bit today, and find some joy in our self worth.
Are you one of those people who works hard, takes care of your family, takes care of friends, and never stops doing for others? At the end of the day you are most likely exhausted, but you get up the next day and do it all over again. And in this hustle and bustle, perhaps there is something that you want. A new pair of shoes maybe? Or perhaps there is something you need, not just a want, but a true need. But knowing you, one who continues to do nothing but give to others, you don’t buy it. You instead buy the new pair of gym shoes that your child needed, or get some extra groceries for the house.
I don’t know how often you think about self worth. If you are a giver such as I have described, chances are it is not much. Givers just go with the flow. We do what we need to do. We get few compliments and kuddos and the paycheck for our actions is usually kisses and hugs. We’ve stopped expecting anyone to reward us for our hard work, we have had to let go of the idea that we are owed anything for it.
BUT I love the idea of remembering we are in fact worthy of all of the beautiful things this world has to offer. And while expensive trips and fancy material things may not be in the near forcast, it doesn’t mean we aren’t worthy of them. The simple fact is…we are. So when the blessings come your way, accept them with open arms. Not because you are owed them, but because you are worthy of them. Enjoy a lunch with friends, or that hair cut you have needed so badly, or some comfy new socks, not because you are owed them but because you are worthy of them.
‘m convinced that blessings of all sorts come to those who are worthy of them and humbly accept them. Those with self worth seem more apt to find the worth in others, and will find a way to bless them, and so the cycle continues. Amazing!
So take a few minutes today to think about your thought process…do you expect blessings because you are owed them? Or do you simply accept them because you know you are worthy of them? Share these ideas and more on our Facebook page or Community Chat page. I would love to hear what you are thinking!
Be inspired today, friends!
